C'est un témoignage de la dévotion de ma mère pour la Vierge Marie, la confiance sans bornes qu'elle a en notre Mère du Ciel. Lorsque nous étions plus jeunes, combien de fois a-t-elle insisté pour que nous récitions le chapelet en famille, en début de soirée. Elle ne craignait pas de témoigner de sa foi par la récitation du chapelet, au point de nous rassembler tous, ses enfants, ainsi que nos jeunes amis, catholiques comme protestants. Elle rompait toutes les activités, nous faisait asseoir sur les marches de l'escalier extérieur qui menait au balcon et plaçait la radio sur le rebord de la fenêtre, afin que tous nous récitions le chapelet.

Combien de faveurs a-t-elle reçues de Marie grâce à sa dévotion!
Quelques exemples:

1.    Le premier témoigne des circonstances qui ont entouré la rencontre de ma future épouse. Ma mère priait la Vierge Marie afin que je rencontre et que je puisse épouser une personne qui ait la foi. Pour elle c'était très important et c'était tout naturel de le demander à Marie. J'ai appris plus tard que mon épouse avait également prié Marie, et pour la même raison. Il faut avoir confiance en la prière d'intercession par le Rosaire.

2.    Ma mère a toujours eu des problèmes avec ses reins, problèmes qui ont nécessité au cours de sa vie trois interventions chirurgicales majeures. Suite à la seconde chirurgie, elle a fait une hémorragie interne. Ses médecins avaient fait ce qu'ils pouvaient, et, selon leurs dires, «c'était au ciel de faire le reste». Nous étions sept enfants à l'époque, dont deux adolescents seulement. Ma grand-mère maternelle vivait avec nous, et elle prenait soin de la maisonnée. C'était cependant une lourde tâche. Ma mère sentait que ma grand-mère n'aurait pas la force de prendre la relève, et elle a demandé à la Vierge Marie de la garder en vie afin qu'elle puisse continuer à s'occuper de sa famille. Elle s'est endormie ce soir-là, chapelet en main, après s'être remise en confiance à Marie. Le lendemain matin, à son réveil, tout danger était écarté: plus aucune trace de sang dans ses urines.

3.    Ma mère a également obtenu la guérison de ma grand-mère, âgée de 76 ans, alors que le cancer du sein s'était répandu aux ganglions lymphatiques. Les médecins ne lui donnaient que de trois à six mois à vivre. Nous croyons que c'est grâce au chapelet, et par l'intercession de Marie que ma grand-mère fut guérie. Quelques semaines après les traitements en chimiothérapie, plus une trace de cancer. Elle vécut encore 16 ans avec nous, et est décédée à l'âge de 92 ans.

This is a testament to the devotion of my mother to the Virgin Mary, the boundless confidence she has in our Heavenly Mother. When we were younger, how many times she insisted that we recited the rosary as a family, in the early evening. She was not afraid to show her faith by the recitation of the rosary, and she would bring us all together, her children and our young friends, Catholic and Protestant. She stopped all the activities, and made us sit on the steps of the balcony; she placed the radio on the windowsill, so all would recite the rosary.

How may she favours she received from Mary thanks to her devotion! 
A few examples:

1.    The first reflects the circumstances surrounding how I met my future wife. My mother prayed to the Virgin Mary so that I could meet and marry a person who had faith. For her, it was very important and it was natural to ask this to Mary. I later learned that my wife had also prayed to Mary, and for the same reason. We must trust in the prayer of intercession through the Rosary.

2.    My mother always had problems with her kidneys, problems that required three major surgeries over the course of her life. After the second surgery, she had internal bleeding. Her doctors had done what they could, and, according to them, "It was up to heaven to do the rest". We were seven children at the time, of which only two were teenagers. My maternal grandmother lived with us and she took care of the household. It was, however, a difficult task. My mother felt that my grandmother would not have the strength to take over, and she asked the Virgin Mary to keep her alive so she could continue to care for her family. She fell asleep that night, rosary in hand, after having confidently entrusted herself to Mary. The next morning when she awoke, all danger was over: no trace of blood in her urine.

3.    My mother also obtained the healing of my grandmother, 76 years old, while the breast cancer had spread to her lymph nodes. Doctors gave her only three to six months to live. We believe that it is through the rosary and the intercession of Mary that my grandmother was healed. A few weeks after the chemotherapy treatments, not a trace of cancer. She lived for another 16 years with us and died at the age of 92.
