....Linéaire ou non linéaire..Linear or Nonlinear....

….LINÉAIRE OU NON LINÉAIRE… TELLE EST LA QUESTION.

Un soir, j’étais attablée avec des amis pour le souper (c’était avant la covid) et nous discutions de choses et d’autres. À un moment, nous nous sommes mis à parler du linéaire, du non linéaire et de considérations espace-temps.
 
Je suis comptable et qui dit comptable dit, en général, rationnel, cartésien et, par extension, linéaire… c’est-à-dire, quelqu’un qui voit les choses suivant une ligne «logique», même le temps.   
 
Notre réflexion portait sur le fait que si on en reste à une vision uniquement linéaire de la vie, c’est comme s’imposer une restriction, s’enfermer dans un cadre rigide. On a l’impression d’être pris dans le temps, d’aller uniquement dans une direction.
 
Intuitivement, nous sentons bien qu’il y a quelque chose qui nous échappe dans la pleine compréhension de la vie, et c’est ce qui nous permet de penser qu’il y a aussi une dimension non-linéaire du temps.
 
Si nous voulons saisir l’essence de la vie, il faut alors creuser, aller à la source de la Vie… à Dieu.  Lorsqu’on s’y arrête, est-ce qu’on peut dire que Dieu est limité par le linéaire?… Au contraire! Dieu n’a pas cette restriction. Nous pouvons croire qu’il agit à la fois dans le linéaire et le non linéaire. Il n’a pas de limite. Il n’y a rien qui retient l’Esprit de Dieu dans son action.
 
À quoi ça sert de réfléchir à tout ceci?
 
Ces réflexions sont importantes, car il y a beaucoup de réalités que l’on vit qui nous paraissent limitées. Si nous nous rapprochons de plus en plus de la réalité de Dieu, de Dieu qui n’a pas de limite, il devient techniquement possible d’étendre nos propres limites…
 
Cette conversation m’a profondément marquée et j’ai voulu en garder un souvenir. Pour me rappeler la complémentarité entre le linéaire et le non linéaire, je voulais me procurer une représentation de l’Esprit Saint qui évoquerait le non linéaire. L’Esprit de Dieu est souvent représenté par un oiseau. Je me suis donc mise à la recherche d’un pendentif figurant un oiseau, mais qui serait de forme ronde pour évoquer cette réalité. Je l’ai déniché en Finlande. C'est la photo qui accompagne cette réflexion.

LINEAR OR NONLINEAR… THAT'S THE QUESTION.

One evening, I was sitting down with friends for dinner (it was before the covid pandemic) and we were talking  about one thing and another. At one point, we got down to talking about the linear, the nonlinear, and space-time considerations.

I am an accountant and who says "accountant", in general implies a rational, Cartesian and, by extension, linear person ... that is, someone who sees things along a "logical" line, even time. 

Our thinking was that if you stick to a purely linear view of life, it's like painting yourself in a corner, locking yourself into a rigid framework. One gets the impression of being caught in time, of going only in one direction.

Intuitively, we feel that there is something that escapes us in the full understanding of life, and this is what allows us to think that there is also a nonlinear dimension of time. 

If we want to grasp the essence of life, then we must dig, and go to the source of Life ... to God. When we stop there, can we say that God is limited by the linear? ... On the contrary! God does not have this restriction. We can believe that He acts in both the linear and the nonlinear. There is no limit. There is nothing that holds back the Spirit of God in his action. 

What's the point of thinking about all this?

These reflections are important because there are many realities that we experience that seem limited to us. If we get closer and closer to the reality of God, of God who has no limit, it becomes technically possible to extend our own limits… 

This conversation has left a deep impression on me and I wanted the memory of it to remain. To remind myself of the complementarity between the linear and the nonlinear, I wanted to get a representation of the Holy Spirit that would evoke the nonlinear. The Spirit of God is often represented by a bird. So I started looking for a pendant depicting a bird, but which would be round in shape to evoke this reality. I found it in Finland. It is the photo that accompanies this reflection.
